Are You Downloading a Virus?

by Nicholas Ward on February 24, 2010

Just a quick reminder: Don't open emails from people you don't know or trust. Lately, there is an email going around with a link ending in .exe. Downloading an executable file from an email is a bad idea. Do you really know what it will install on your computer?

I don't know what was done to my computer, but I am the victim of
one of these!! I get "sexy" female laughter, squeekie door sounds,
items being dropped & several other strange sounds constantly. I can
no longer access certain web pages, and I can not get rid of this virus!!
I don't know how it got thru my protection, but it has corruped it and
won't allow me to fix it. It won't allow me to down-load new virus or
firewall programs. If anyone knows a fix for this . . . . . I would really
appreciate hearing it. Thanks abunch,

That is bad. I recommend professional help for such situations. In my experience, you will have to back up your data, format your hard drive, and reinstall the operating system from scratch. And before the hijack figures out you are trying to remove it and starts corrupting files. This is also a good time to upgrade your machine.
