Just north of Ocala, there is a place where beautiful endangered animals can be found. EARS (Endangered Animal Rescue Sanctuary), was founded by Gail Bowen in 2001, EARS provides a home for unwanted or abused endangered animals. The caretakers do everything they can to provide a loving, permanent home for the animals. Wile EARS is not open to the public, they do invite the public every Wed. and Sat. for guided tours. They begin at 2pm, last for about 2 hours, and are 18$ for adults and 10$ for children under 12. Private tours can also be arranged. You can learn more at their website here.
Who doesn’t love dogs? They’re cute, lovable, and more loyal than your own thumb. But which breed will fit in with your lifestyle? If you’re a couch surfer and don’t really think of the outside as a place to spend much time, then a greyhound may be for you. While they enjoy running, and running, and running… they are more than happy to spend the day laying on the couch with you and “borrowing” some of those snacks.
Is going on hikes and runs more your speed? Is the beach a place that makes you smile? Do you enjoy the feel of the sun better than the feel of a ceiling fan? A Labrador Retriever would be an excellent choice to join you on those refreshing days outside. This cuddly friend can keep up as long as you want to go, and is just as happy on the run as they are in the wind down.
Are you a busy bee with a thriving job? Do you spend most nights at the office or out in the field doing the hard work, where home is a second thought? If you want a low-maintenance dog, a Pug may be the answer for you. A small walk after work and a cuddle session as you wind down from work is all these little fellas need. Their short fur doesn’t require much and they are happy to lay around all day too.
Are you someone who just wants a fuzzy friend for life? Then for you, it’s less about breed and more about the dog itself. Try going to a local rescue and see if there are any fuzzy buddies that you want to take home. No matter what dog you get, though, you will have a best friend for life!
The constant change from light to dark tricks the brain into seeing other colors – Blue, purple, gray, and sometimes red.
