With the holiday season upon us, there are many local festivities to enjoy!
The amazing Festival of Lights at the Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park, White Springs, is Dec. 1 – Dec. 24. This year’s festival will continue with a schedule of classic Holiday Magic Nights–featuring free hot cocoa, popcorn, marshmallow roasting over a bon fire, craft activities, snow flurries, train display, music in the Tower, and Santa–and Silent Nights, which are ideal for walking through the light displays at your leisure, Dec. 4-7, Dec. 11-14, and Dec. 24. Spend all day in downtown Live Oak Dec. 2 at Christmas on the Square. Arts and crafts vendors, dozens of different food vendors, a car show, an agriculture exhibit, and live entertainment at Millennium Park makes a fun event! In the evening, the annual Christmas Parade of Lights will make its way down Ohio Avenue, lead by the Jingle Bell Fun Run/Walk.
Also on Dec. 2 is the Fort White Christmas Parade & Celebration at the Train Depot. The parade begins atnoon, and the celebration will last until 4pm. Visit with Santa, view a live nativity, and enjoy hot chocolate & cookies, live holiday music, and fun activities.
Experience a live drive-thru Live Nativity Scene at Columbia City Seventh Day Adventist Church on SW Ziegler Terrace, Lake City, Dec. 1-3 and Dec. 8-10, beginning at 6pm nightly.
Compete in an exciting gingerbread house charity event for the Ronald McDonald Foundation at “Build a House for The House” Dec. 5 at the Women’s Club on Lake Isabella, 4pm – 6:30pm. A table of 6 is $350.
Play in the snow on Snow Day, Dec. 9, 9am – 3pm, at Darby Pavilion on Lake DeSoto! Snow slides, 30 tons of snow, bounce houses, live entertainment, food vendors, live entertainment, and visit with Santa equals festive fun for the entire family!
Experience the history and customs of Christmas Dec. 16, 11am – 4pm, at Olustee Depot. Christmas Past Open House in the Osceola National Forest is a family-friendly event with free cookies, cocoa, and crafts for the kids. Register by calling 609-277-4458 or 386-752-2577.
