The easiest way to close a sale is to get the customer to imagine himself using the product. The customer will do the rest. For example, I closely followed a retailer who marketed his product with very exciting copy. But almost every photograph included a toilet!! His company didn’t sell toilets.
Occasionally, this company’s advertising would include an image of a kitchen with bar stools pulled up to the counter. Or a garden style bathtub. I realized the connection, and started looking at other advertising. I found Sandals showing an empty deck chair next to a pool, Calvin Klein showing an empty bed, and Corona showing an open bottle on the arm of a chair. Each of these ads invite their viewer to imagine themselves in the photo.
What are some creative ways you can show your products in a way that people will imagine using it? You might start by showing them where they will sit.
